drive to shop
definition: to get to those out-of-the-way places with your car for some retail therapy
The Curve Mall Kuala Lumpur is a shopping centre in Petaling Jaya. With a combination of outdoor dining spaces and more than 250 stores under its roof, it attracts a fair number of shoppers every day, particularly during the weekend.
Metrojaya serves as its two-storey anchor tenant, and shoppers will find a range of mid-level international labels such as British retailers Debenhams, British India and Dorothy Perkins. And for a taste of the local fashion scene, there are local labels such as Marry Merry, Diva, Blossom Box Store and textile store Binwani’s.
At The Curve Mall’s weekly flea market, you can find stalls selling cult fashion finds to upscale designer garb and home design goods, as well as antiques, collectibles, arts and crafts and even hobby-specific curiosities.
When it comes to food, there is the outdoor walkway (The Street) where you can find popular restaurants such as Johnny Rockets, Malone’s, Italiannies, Kenny Roger’s Roaster, T.G.I. Friday’s and Bavarian Bierhaus German Restaurant & Bar. There is also the usual fast food fare like McDonald’s, Baskin Robbins’ and KFC.
Just opposite The Street is e@Curve, which houses about 80 retail, food and entertainment shops, and a 16-screen movie theatre on the second floor. Across the road (and connected via an underground walkway) is IKEA Centre and its anchor mall Ikano Power Centre, where you can find over 150 mid-range stores, cafés and entertainment venues.
The Curve Mall is also connected to Kidzania via a covered sky bridge. Set within Curve NX, this edutainment complex offers families with little ones a day of role-playing a variety of occupations such as surgeons, judges, mechanics and hairdressers.
